Wanergy Africa Limited is a creation of 3 like-minded women who are passionate about making a significant contribution to community development and aimed at providing sustainable solutions to this unsustainable practice of open dumping.

Junnie R. Wangari

Founder and CEO

Independent Consultant and Founder of Wanergy Africa Limited, has over 20 years’ experience in sales, marketing and business development and instrumental in developing new business lines with career spanning across various multinational companies such as  GlaxoSmithKline, Airtel and Coca-Cola Africa. She served as Sales and Marketing Director for Bidco Africa Limited. She has been instrumental in the development of sustainable waste management solutions for agricultural waste by launching Biochar4Life, a carbon sequestration and soil amender that will contribute significantly to mitigation of climate change and promote smart agriculture in Kenya.

She holds an MBA(UON), BA(UON), Diploma in Marketing(CIM) and is a member of the Marketing Society of Kenya and Kenya Renewable Energy Association.

Mary Mutungi

Lead Admin & Procurement

Finance and Procurement professional having served in the management of Rubis Energy Kenya PLC, has over 17 years experience in Finance from the Service industry, Telecoms, and now in Oil & Gas. Additionally, she has over 3 years of experience in Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain in Oil & Gas.

She holds an MBA Finance Option from the University of Nairobi, BCom Finance Option with First Class Honors from Catholic University of Eastern Africa and CPA (K) from Strathmore Universit

June Lukuyu

Engineer

A researcher and doctoral student in the Systems Towards Infrastructure and Monitoring Analysis (STIMA) Lab at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her current work focuses on designing and evaluating demand stimulation strategies that facilitate increased end-uses of electricity for improving livelihoods in sub-Saharan Africa through fostering organic electricity consumption growth or conversion of other energy sources to electricity. Prior to starting her PhD, she was an engineer at Aspen Technology, developing design-based cost estimation models for power distribution systems. June holds a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from Loughborough University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science from Smith College.
